The Legacy Gymnastics Academy, Inc. opened in August 2006 under the direction of Miranda Repsher. It is the program's mission to provide a truly well-rounded, highly competitive gymnastics program, whereby students will learn not only the proper development of gymnastics skills, but will build the proper character and goals for young athletes. The Academy encourages leadership and excellence in each of our students by promoting perseverance, discipline, pride in individual accomplishment, and self-confidence, values that encourage our students to accept challenges and responsibilities that few young people come to know.
At Legacy, we feel that every student deserves time and attention in each class as well as the chance to excel in gymnastics at their individual pace. Our classes are designed for students of all ages and ability levels, from beginning through advanced. A great emphasis is place on our beginning level students to establish a solid base of fundamentals. Once these are mastered, the transition to more advanced skills is accomplished with confidence and pride in one's own abilities. Legacy training offers sound fundamental gymnastic education for all children, whether the goal for that child is competition, personal growth, or the rewards of life-long health and fitness.
Legacy employs only highly trained and qualified instructors that enjoy working with children. Each class is divided into ability levels with a student-teacher ratio of 6 to 1; tiny tots classes have a pupil-teacher ratio of 4 to 1. The general program involves exercises in stretching, flexibility and strength followed by tumbling and apparatus work: vaulting, uneven parallel bars, balance beam, and trampoline. Progression is determined through the use of established skill tests based on USA Gymnastics compulsory elements.
The Legacy Gymnastics Academy, Inc. is a member club of the U.S.A. Gymnastics, the United States Elite Coaches' Association, and the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce.
